Relatives of Ganga Dhakal (26) of Faparthum, Syangja, who died in the course of treatment, had accused doctors of the Western Regional Hospital for sheer negligence which led to her death today.
Ganga was admitted to the Western Regional Hospital on March 20 for the treatment of appendicitis. Kins of deceased were furious after doctors declared her death today morning. Deceased’s brother-in-law Rajendra Adhikari said she was in normal condition when she was brought to the hospital but she did not recover conscious after she was administered anesthetic injection by the doctors for operation.
Adhikari further said, “We felt something was wrong when after operation she was taken to ICU rather than in post-operative ward. But doctors then assured us that it was a simple problem. Now they declared her death.”
Hospital administration claimed that Ganga had died as her kidney was damaged due to appendicitis. Relatives on the other hand said that they had conducted hemodialysis but no improvement was seen in her condition after the treatment. Adhikari said, “She did not get her consciousness even after operation, it should not have happened just because of the kidney problem.”
Ganga was admitted to the hospital after she complained pain in abdomen. Doctors said that she was suffering from appendicitis and suggested for the operation. Her operation was done on the very next day.
Spokesperson of the Hospital Dr. Lumeshwor Achar-ya said that the patient died of post-operative complication. “There was no negligence on part of doctors in this case, some patients face such problems after operation,” he said, adding, “I hope kin of the deceased will understand this.”
Although talks were held between the kin of the deceased and hospital administration nothing emerged to placate the aggrieved. Kin of deceased have denied accepting the dead body as they demanded the hospital administration for thorough investigation into the case.

PATHLAIYA: Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangh, formed to protect “Buddha Boy” Ram Bahadur Bamjan, has kept two women captive, one of them a foreigner, since three months.
Marichi (35) from Slovakia and another woman of Sindhupalchowk, Mata, have been confined by the Sangh, which alleges they tried to distract Bamjan’s meditation.
Inspector at Simara Area police Office, KP Sharma said a complaint had been filed about the women’s captivity in Halkhoriya forest, where Bamjan is meditating.
